Consumer Products

Producers of non-durable consumer products, such as batteries, laundry detergent, and soap, are continuously searching for means to increase production, reduce costs, and improve product quality. In order to meet these demands, producers must design the material handling equipment to provide consistent reliable feed, as well as maintain product quality.

Unfortunately, many consumer products, such as detergent or soap, may be prone to flow problems such as arching or ratholing during discharge from handling equipment. These flow problems can result in production delays, increased operator intervention, or product losses. In addition, consumer products such as battery blends may be relatively free-flowing, but may have a high tendency to segregate. Segregation of the final blend components can have an adverse effect upon product uniformity and quality on an inter- or intra-batch basis.

Jenike & Johanson has a proven scientific approach to avoid common handling problems in the production of consumer products. This approach is based upon the flow characteristics of your specific material and operating conditions. These flow characteristics are used in conjunction with mathematical models to analyze and predict material behavior and design reliable handling equipment.
