POSITION: Laboratory Technician
LOCATION: 400 Business Park Drive, Tyngsboro, MA 01879
DUTIES:
Our Tyngsboro, MA office has an immediate need for a laboratory technician to test a wide range of granular solids. Properties of these materials are determined by specialized, physical testing. The ideal candidate will have the following skills/abilities:
- Education/Experience - BS/BA or Associates Degree in Science Discipline.
- General lab experience – Although not a typical chemical or "wet" lab, the ideal candidate will have experience working in a general lab environment including general laboratory safety practices. Ability to monitor experiments and document observations.
- Well organized - Candidate should possess thorough and accurate record keeping skills, as well as the ability to maintain a clean and safe working environment. Attention to details while multi-tasking is an important attribute. Ability to work with minimal or no supervision. Read and follow written instructions including SOPs.
- Reasoning abilities - Testing often requires the ability to problem solve and adjust a course of action as appropriate – rather than relying on a fixed set of procedures.
- Mechanical abilities – Testing requires hands-on activities (as opposed to placing a sample in a device and simply pushing a button to get results). Testing involves regular lifting of weights up to 20 lbs., and samples in pails.
- Computer experience – Specialized software is used for data entry/analysis. Additional use of Excel and Word is required. General computer skills are beneficial.
- Communication skills – Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Regular interface with engineers.
- MSDS knowledge – Familiarity with working with hazardous materials is beneficial. Tested materials range from harmless food products (e.g., flour, sugar) to hazardous powdered chemicals. The majority of tested materials could be described as moderate to low hazard.
- Respirator use – For the hazardous materials, respirator use is required. Candidate must be physically able to wear a respirator. Respirator and training will be provided.
- General - Demonstrates traits consistent with the company culture drive and perseverance in accomplishing goals; sense of responsibility and integrity; effectiveness as a team member; adaptability to new projects; planning and organizational skills; resourcefulness; determination and motivation to accept and complete tasks; and enthusiasm for the business and their work.
There is potential for accruing overtime.
Travel may be required, 1-10% of time
Pay is based upon experience.
